This approach exists because it sounds logical and technical. VCs love it, consultants sell it, and tech teams feel smart building it. The entire AI industry is built on the premise that if you have enough data and the right algorithms, you can predict and optimize anything.
But here's where conventional wisdom falls short: all of this assumes you already know what problem you're solving. Most companies jump straight to the "how" of AI without ever validating the "what" and "why." They build sophisticated prediction engines for metrics that don't matter, optimize for outcomes that don't drive business value, and automate decisions they shouldn't be making.
The result? Expensive AI projects that produce impressive-looking dashboards but zero real-world impact. The AI shift becomes another case of technology looking for a problem, rather than solving actual business needs.

I learned this lesson during a 6-month deep dive into AI implementation across multiple client projects. Like many people in 2024, I got caught up in the AI hype. ChatGPT was exploding, everyone was talking about machine learning, and I thought I'd found the magic bullet for business optimization.

Step 1: Problem Validation Before Prediction
